Recycle This, 2012
On the weekend of July 28 - 29, I participated in the IN-Motion Game Jam (2012) in San Francisco. IN-Motion Game Jam is a non-profit fundraising hackathon that raises the awareness of people with disabilities and the increasing movement of touchless control devices like Kinect. The event was organized by my friend Angelo Hizon, a game artist and advocate for the disabled.
My team included:
Antonio Aiello (Lead 3D Artist at ZippyBrains) - 3D Artist and Level Design
Byron Delima (Game Designer at Digital Monkey School) - Character Designer
Celeste Gamble - 3D Artist and Level Design
In this video, Antonio explains the essential concept behind our game prototype, and plays through a quick demo. Our game features a wheelchair riding hero who helps keep the school playground clean by recycling. My contribution to the project included 3D modeling and playground design. In order to ensure the play ground was relevant to the target audience, I researched playground design for the disabled.
Our prototype was built in 48 hours with Unity, which facilitated game creation, (even though we had no programmers on our team). Our project won second place.
